Since 1989, Dominique Nora has been an economic writer for the
famous French weekly magazine Le Nouvel Observateur.
Ms Nora graduated in
agricultural engineering in the early 80’s from the Institut
Supérieur Agronomique in Paris & the Ecole Nationale
Supérieure Agronomique in Montpellier.
She began her
career in the international affairs division of the French Ministry
of Agriculture, working on the issues related to the Common
Agricultural Policy and GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and
Trade).
Subsequently, she
entered the journalism world, writing about economic issues, for the
French newspapers Le Midi Libre, Agence France Presse,
and Libération.
During the 5 years
she worked for Libération, she was their US economic
correspondent in New York for 3 years.
At the same time, she
wrote books and worked in the television industry. In the early 90’s
she created a documentary and wrote a book, both named L’étreinte
du Samourai. She also wrote Les possédés de Wall Street,
on the corporate raiders of the 80’s, Les conquérants du
cybermonde about the digital revolution in information
technologies and its impact on our lives, and Le Hold Up
Planétaire about Microsoft and its anti-trust case. During this
time she filmed another documentary, L’Amérique entre cauchemard
et reve that was broadcasted on European channels.
Most recently, and
still in the television field, she co-hosted for 2 years La
semaine de l’économie, a weekly business show on the French TV
channel France 5.
