Max Nugus
was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. As the son of the UN
diplomat, Mr. Nugus had the luxury of living around the world and was
exposed to a variety of cultures and opportunities. When he moved to
the US in 1989, Nugus decided that fashion was his passion and
attended the Academy of Art College in San Francisco where he
graduated top of his class in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Setting out
on his own, he quickly became recognized as a quality couturier,
designing sophisticated daywear suits, cocktail couture, bridal and
red-carpet worthy evening gowns for some of San Francisco’s most
notable women. His signature style of utilizing the finest fabrics,
extraordinary beading and embroidery and intricate tailoring details
began garnering attention with an international clientele of some of
the world's most prominent celebrities, socialites, and business
women.
The success
of Nugus' clothes soon caught the attention of the fashion press who
featured his extraordinary creations on the fashion pages of Vogue,
Town & Country and Vanity Fair. When world renowned actress Glen Close
wore a Max Nugus creation to the Oscars, she was quoted as saying she
felt " so glam" in her black-beaded tuxedo with hand-embroidered coat.
A young
34-year old designer, Max is always impeccably dressed. Never seen in
denim, though others in his generation seem to live in it, Max always
looks the part of the true couturier. "I like to call my style of
design 'Statement Dressing.' My creations are for the woman who is not
afraid of making a statement; a statement of style, sophistication and
quality," says Nugus
Max Nugus has a retail boutique in San Francisco and
opened his New York boutique on Madison Avenue in New York City in
August, 2005.
