Tips and contacts

The French American Chamber of Commerce, San Francisco, is not a placement platform and does not have the appropriate resources to make connections between job seekers and companies like professional agencies can do.

Here are some handy tips that will be useful to know before starting your job search. Finding a job can be a full time occupation in itself. Be patient, ensure you always prepare and research before submitting your resume or attending an interview.

Information about visas

People seeking to work in the United States must have a legal right to work in the form of nationality, a green card or a specific employment visa. If you do not have a visa or a work permit, you will have to find a company willing to sponsor you. Sponsorship during the current economic climate can be difficult but not impossible.
Please note that seeking a job while you are on a tourist visa is illegal and you can expose yourself to potential penalties/disciplinary measures.

Click here if you want to learn more about visas or visit the US Citizenship and Immigration services website or the US Department of State.
