Don't miss the San Francisco Bastille Day Kermesse & Bal Populaire celebration at Justin Herman Plaza!
Join us July 15th, 2017 to celebrate the 239 year-long French-American friendship while enjoying fabulous foods and wines!
The very first San Francisco Bastille Day celebration took place in 1889, and this year -128 years later - the Official Committee of French-American Organizations of Northern California is planning a grand Bastille Day celebration with a Kermesse (outdoor festival) followed by a Bal Populaire (firemen’s ball) a la Française. The event will open at 11 am and run till 8 pm on Saturday July 15th at Justin Herman Plaza, on the Embarcadero.
The free admission event, organized under the patronage of San Francisco’s Mayor Ed Lee and the Consul General of France in San Francisco, Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens, is open to all French and American residents and visitors of the Bay Area to enjoy over 40 French establishments, food and wine booths, a Citroen vintage car show, games of “Pétanque” and all kinds of fun for the family!
The day’s activities will culminate at 6 pm with the excitement of a “Bal Populaire” featuring local French-American bands, including SonoMusette, mid-20th century Paris music, Rue’66, San Francisco’s only authentic 60s French “yé yé” band, and The FaspTones, a French Rock & Roll band. The Bastille Day celebration is expected to draw-up a few thousand visitors throughout the day!
We invite you to discover the amazing French companies, culinary delights, wine, and other beverage providers that will partake in this wonderful celebration by going to the website: www.bastilledaysf.org.
Some of the more popular brands include: Fabrique Delices, Goudy French Cuisine, Chantal Guillon macaron, le P’tit Laurent, La Flamme, Petit Pot and many more. Several Bay Area “Alliance Française” and other French organizations will also be exhibiting.
